I couldn't really get into spinning because, well, I wasn't doing it right. But thanks to Megan LaCore (also from the Bay Area) and her tremendously helpful instructional videos. I can now spin correctly! You can find all of Megan's awesome youtube tutorials on The Art of Megan channel. She also has an etsy shop and her own website.

This was my first spinning attempt after I watched her tutorials. I was really pleased with the way it came out. I used some hand painted wool I received in a swap. Then I ended up giving it away in swap!

I'm working on another skein of art yarn at the moment. So far I have spun and set the yarn. It's currently on a spindle with all the added beads. It's fun to watch art yarn transform into a skein of surprises, but it's tedious and time consuming. Some of the materials I've used so far are; acrylic, sequins, crystal, glass, and plastic flowers.

I crocheted this necklace for a swap and I really like it. The snap clasp is covered by a Vintage looking button. It can be worn with the button in front or in back.

Vintage-esque

I haven't really tried vintage hunting here in Raleigh, but I did make some vintage inspired jewelry. I like owls, kitschy flower beads and cameos. So, I put them together in soft color combos and here's what I got!

These earrings are just simple bell drops. All the beads are Czech glass in one of my favorite color combos; aqua and yellow.

I added some cream colored owls to these bells.

"There's An Owl In My Garden" are my favorite earrings in this collection. I love the vintage green color and yellow together. These Flowers are actually enameled metal, but the white ones are plastic.

Flirty and feminine, these floral dangles are soft and flirty. "Peachy" is made with plastic flower beads, Czech glass aqua bell beads, and peach dyed freshwater pearls.

You can't get anymore vintage than a cameo. This ring will go perfectly with any of the earrings above.
